Program

The CARBOFARM Program

It includes arable and grassland areas, orchards, vineyards, and agroforestry systems, as these can significantly contribute to promoting soil health and carbon sequestration.

At the heart of the program is soil health as the foundation for all further measures. In addition to carbon sequestration, other ecosystem services are also promoted, such as improved water retention, erosion control, and biodiversity. These services can be integrated into the system and monetized to create additional income opportunities for agricultural operations.

The CARBOFARM Program at a glance:
Step 1

Farmer Registration

Introductory consultation. Contract conclusion. Data collection. Ongoing consultation by agricultural experts if needed.

Step 2

Reference measurement

Reference measurement (Baseline) at the start of the 8-year contract term

Step 3

Cyclic measurements

Cyclic measurements every 2 years. Compensation of 70% of carbon sequestration (30% insurance buffer). Additional capital returns possible.

Step 4

Contract extension

After the 8-year contract term expires, ideally extend for another 8-year cycle to continue carbon sequestration and achieve permanence.

Independent soil sampling, independent laboratories, and the blockchain-based organizational model of the CARBOFARM program ensure a tamper-proof, transparent, and traceable process of measurement, recording, and verification (MRV), building trust and reliability for all parties involved.
