CO2 - Credits
In agriculture, there are two approaches to generating carbon credits:
- Emission reductions/avoidance (e.g., through less fuel, heating fuel, fertilizers, pesticides).
- Carbon sequestration in the soil (e.g., through humus formation via regenerative farming methods).
Humus is a crucial factor in carbon storage in the soil. 1 tonne of CO₂ bound in the form of carbon through humus formation corresponds to 1 CO₂ certificate, which is traded on voluntary CO₂ markets for 15–350 euros per tonne. CO₂ certificates from CARBOFARM are based on actual achieved carbon sequestration and serve companies, such as those in the food or aviation industries, for voluntarily compensating their emissions.
Benefits for Farmers:
- Financial support for investments.
- Additional income source through the sale of carbon credits resulting from humus creation.
- CARBOFARM takes care of the sale of the carbon credits.
