MRV Process

The CARBOFARM program is based on international standards (FAO-GSOC MRV Protocol) and an 8-year measurement and monitoring cycle. It promotes the permanent CO2 sequestration in the soil through humus formation, which is more effective and sustainable than surface biomass sequestration.

MRV Process (Measurement, Recording, Verification):

  • Measurement: Certified independent companies take soil samples at GPS-located points, which are unknown to the farmers, to avoid manipulation.
  • Recording: Results are analyzed in independent laboratories accredited according to ISO 17025, stored in data manipulation-proof databases, and registered.
  • Verification: Approved testing, inspection, and certification service providers regularly check compliance and certification of the established processes.

The CARBOFARM program provides farmers with a forward-looking foundation to take sustainable actions for soil health and carbon sequestration, supported by modern, independent, and cost-effective testing methods.
